Hwaseong is the official fortress in Suwon, Gyeonggi-do. Its wall stretches for over 5 kilometers, and it has a variety of military facilities that are hard to find anywhere else. The four gates face each of the four directions—north, south, east, and west. It was a pioneer city with its own economic power.
