A Strategy B Expressions Signposting: Guiding Your Audience Through a Presentation Nuts & Bolts of Presenting Presenting Yourself Using Transitions and Signposting Signposting in a presentation is a technique used to guide the audience through the structure of the presentation and help them follow along with the main points being made. It involves giving clear signals to the audience about where you are in the presentation and what is coming up next. Signposting can be done in a variety of ways, such as: 1. Outlining the structure of the presentation at the beginning, so the audience knows what to expect. 2. Using transitional phrases to signal a change in topic or point. For example, you can say “Now that we’ve covered X, let’s move on to Y.” 3. Summarizing the main points of a section before moving on to the next one. 4. Using visual aids like numbered lists or headings to highlight the key points of each section. 5. Repeating key phrases or concepts to reinforce their importance and help the audience remember them.
